You failed? 😲No, you learned.

You failed? 😲No, you learned.

You’re three weeks into the New Year and you’ve already missed a goal or two. You missed getting up to workout this morning because of a late night. You didn’t get that client because of a fight you had with your spouse earlier in the day.

Failure happens in every person’s life. Whether it’s in school, at a relationship, in the workplace, or on the sports field – failures do happen. How you respond to the failure is what makes the difference.

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:
but the wicked shall fall into mischief.” Proverbs 24:16

You can overcome failure. After being rejected 12 times for her “Harry Potter” book series, J.K. Rowling probably felt like the least important person in the world. However, now she holds the title for the first billionaire author. “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.” – J.K. Rowling

Here are 4 actions to take after experiencing a failure.

1. Write down the lesson(s) you learned from failing.

Writing it down allows your mind to process through the event. It takes what is happening inside of your mind and causes you to see it with your physical senses.

2. Separate your identity from this moment of failure.

You are not your failure. If you have accepted Christ as your Savior then you are a child of God. He still loves you. He still accepts you. He still forgives you. Secure yourself in the identity that Christ has given to you.

3. Thank God for the blessings you have in life.

Friend, I dare you to write down 100 blessings that you have in your life! You will be so overwhelmed with God’s goodness. He’s still blessing you even in your lowest point.

4. Launch yourself into your next endeavour

One time, Jesus’s disciples were out in their boat fishing all night and caught nothing! They were fishermen; they knew the waters, the hot spots, and the best techniques. Yet Jesus told them to launch out into the deep and cast their nets on the other side. He commanded and inspired them to try a different way and to remain persistent to finish their goal.

You can accomplish your goals! You can strengthen your marriage! You can lose that weight, develop those good habits, and change your life for the better! Launch out!
