As a Jesus follower you are called to lead your family. You need to actively turn your heart to love and respect to build family relations that thrive in unity.
In his book, “7 Habits of Highly Effective Families,” Stephen Covey says, “with your family, going slow is fast and going fast is slow.” Slow down and take time to understand their perspective. If your children are younger, are you explaining things in their vocabulary? Maybe they don’t understand a large word or complicated sentence that you use. Slow down by listening to them and explaining yourself.
The devil loves to tear families apart. He wants to tempt you into sinning. Evil thrives with doubt, discord & division. King David’s family crumbled when his sin divided his sons. Judah and Rueben brought so much sorrow on their father when they sold Joseph into slavery.
Jim Eliott said, “What a brutish master sin is, taking the joy from one’s life, stealing money and health, giving promise of tomorrow’s pleasures, and finally leading one onto the rotten planking that overlies the mouth of the pit.”
It’s our job to intentionally use the weapons of faith, hope, and love to fill hearts with grace & foster the bonds of spiritual protection. Pray with your spouse. Talk with your children about their likes and dislikes. Go on a family walk.
Nothing shall stop the unified family that’s rooted & grounded in Christ!
“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
