Mary offered her best to Jesus. She gave freely with a heart of love and sacrifice. The fragrance of her worship was so magnificent that everyone could see and smell her lavish offering. She wasn’t focused on what other people thought about her. She was consumed with Jesus and preparing his body for the future. Jesus commender her!
Judas ridiculed and mocked Mary’s worship. He cast doubt and scorn on her style and giving. He thought his choice of where to put the offering was better. It wasn’t about Jesus or helping the poor to him. It was all about selfishness and control. He was flat out WRONG!
Jesus is worthy of your best so go ahead and pour out your best. Be an over-the-top, all in, extravagant worshipper. It’s all about Him. Don’t let the haters and manipulators stop you. Don’t let the fear of man snare you. Don’t let those who have position, experience, or education hold you back. Love Jesus!
God loves a pure heart, generous hand, and focused eyes on Him. You be that person. Trust Him. He will back you up and reprove the controlling despisers that want to hinder you. Go all in and be that extravagant worshipper today.
“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.” John 12:3-8
