Give Thanks

THANKSGIV’ING – The act of rendering thanks or expressing gratitude for favors or mercies.
GRAT’ITUDE – An emotion of the heart, excited by a favor or benefit received

1. Thanksgiving is a Choice – Its a decision to be grateful and give thanks. As we respond to life with an attitude of gratitude its amazing the blessings we begin to see. Even the difficult problems can be seen with a heart of praise and thanksgiving.

“And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.” – Leviticus 22:29

2. Thanksgiving is a Command – God does not give us anything we cannot handle. He promises to work it all out for good. As we obey Gods command to give thanks in everything it open our hearts to bear fruit in the most challenging situations. This is where God gets the biggest glory. Trust the heart of God in everything. No matter what’s happening in your life give thanks – its the will of God.

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” –  1 Thessalonians 5:18

3. Thanksgiving is a Commitment – Its our responsibility to be faithful in giving God what’s rightfully his due. Make sure to pay your respect unto God in a way that speaks from the heart and lifts up the Savior. Show your faith with actions of praise and specifically identify what your thankful for. Give God all the glory with your words and deeds.

“Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:”  -Psalms 50:14

Here’s a  list of areas you can begin to give thanks to the Lord on this Thanksgiving. Take the time to count your blessings and make sure to lift up the name of Jesus Christ for providing so richly for you this year. Happy counting and God bless.
